The keypad is made of steel and ceramic and it's very hard to scratch it too. Ceramic part can be scratched only with a sharp needle but again you'll need to apply some force.
do you have to turn the circle before you open the back to get the battery out?and how can you put the sim inside the phone?on the top or the back?
The battery cover opens by rotating the half-ring above. The SIM card pops from the top.

l have a question regarding the rear side of the phone, especially the battery cover. On your photos it is clearly shown that it is made out of a leather, but on Vertu web site it says back of the phone (battery cover) is made of ceramic. So why is it leather instead of ceramic on your photos? Yes, indeed. We had several units with a ceramic back panel. The only ones that are being produced now are leather. The front panel is still ceramic just like the original. Producing the ceramic at the back would make the replica cost over 1,000 USD, we're just trying to keep our prices lower.
